Will hail damage a metal roof?
While in extreme cases, there could be some slight denting that occurs, metal roofing is still the recommended material choice in areas that receive hail often. When my metal roof arrives, how should I handle and store panels prior to installation?
It is very important to handle your new metal roof panels with care so that the painted finish is not damaged before installation. While tough with impact resistance, dragging panels across the surface of one another could scratch and damage the finish. To further protect you and your metal roof, use heavy-duty gloves when handling panels and trim accessories.
Upon receipt, inspect your metal roof panels for moisture. If there is moisture, the panels should be separated and dried. During installation, remember to use extreme caution when walking, sitting, standing or kneeling on metal roofing to avoid falls. Due to oil used in the manufacturing process, metal roofing panels are extremely slippery when wet.
